Chinese cable network to build iTV network
Jianxi Cable Network to bring digital and interactive TV to three million subscribers.
China's only full provincial cable network, Jiangxi Cable Network, has selected Open TV and its local partner, Beida Jadebird Huaguang (Jadebird), to build a network, offering digital and interactive television (iTV) services to the cable provider’s three million subscribers.
The digital TV services are expected to be available in three months and will be the precursor to further interactive TV services. This is a first joint win for OpenTV and Jadebird since the companies partnered in April of this year to deploy OpenTV's iTV solutions to Jadebird invested cable TV networks throughout China.
“In building a network that supports digital and interactive TV services, we aim to fulfil the demand from our subscribers who are eager for greater convenience and easy access to value added services,” says Zhuqing Wang, Jiangxi general manager. “We believe OpenTV is clearly the most committed iTV solutions provider to the Chinese market and most suitable to assist us in meeting our goals."
