Alcatel provides Egypt's NTI with technical program

French vendor will provide training to next generation of telecommunications engineers over the next five years.

Alcatel has signed a five year agreement with the National Telecom Institute of Egypt (NTI) to train the country’s next generation of telecoms engineers. The technical program will cover general telecommunications topics and specific Alcatel networking kit.

The course will consist of six sessions, each session lasing for six weeks. The six week course is divided into three weeks of theoretical training on NTI’s campus and an additional three weeks of practical training.

To support the course, two NTI staff are to be trained at the Alcatel University based in France. The 'teach the teacher training' sessions will last for six weeks and consist of multiple courses.

The deal is inline with the Egyptian Ministry of Communications & Information Technology’s (MCIT) quest to equip the country's youth with IT skills. MCIT aims to have trained 5000 students in IT over the next five years.

“Alcatel considers education and awareness as key factors to create the conditions for deployment of ICT we are therefore committed, in line with the policy of the Ministry of Telecommunications and IT, towards furthering the telecommunication industry in Egypt,” says Vincenzo Nesci, Chairman Alcatel Egypt.

"Alcatel is proud to contribute to this major challenge and we are eager to support the Egyptian youth pursue careers in the telecom industry,” he adds.
