Arabia.com has partnered with Cairo-based online book store e-Kotob to provide online access to more than 50,000 books.

Arabia.com has partnered with Cairo-based online book store e-Kotob to provide online access to more than 50,000 books, most of which are in Arabic. The books cover a broad range of topics including Islam. A small selection of books is available in English as well.

“Online shopping is beginning to take hold in the region and we are witnessing rapid growth in this area,” explained Ramzi Zeine, chief executive officer, Arabia.com. “Our partnership with e-kotob will be particularly useful to those Arabs residing in non-Arab countries, who may have difficulties locating Arabic and Islamic books. In particular, we have a significant audience in the US and Europe who are keen to gain access to a broader catalogue of Arabic books.”

The store covers a vast cross-section of subjects including science, geography, arts, architecture, languages, philosophy, sociology, computers, religion, literature and childrens’ stories. The Web site has an advanced search engine tha allows people to search by subject, title and author or even by publishing house, publishing date and ISBN number. E-kotob claims that it offers the lowest price on books on the Web. Arabia.com members will get an additional 10% discount on the e-Kotob published book prices.

“We are constantly striving to improve online book buying and make it the quickest, easiest and most enjoyable shopping experience possible,” stated Mostafa Shoukry, managing director, e-Kotob. “New books are continually added to the e-Kotob collection to provide the most up-to-date selection of books. To further assist shoppers, readers’ reviews are published on the site delivering personlised viewpoints on many of the books,” he added.
