Casio unveils world’s thinnest camera

Casio has unveiled the world's thinnest camera, which can be clipped onto a user's pocket.

Casio has unveiled the Casio Exilim, which the company claims is the world's thinnest camera. The launch promises to herald a new lifestyle trend in digital photography with its unique design.

"Exilim is totally different from other digital or analogue cameras not only in shape but also in concept. It is not just a digital camera but also a lifestyle mobile instrument like the mobile phone or the digital audio player,” said Takero Itonaga, manager for Middle East and Africa, International marketing HQ, Casio. “It marks the beginning of a totally new direction that breaks from the more-pixels-more-functions approach pursued until now by creating a new genre of wearable digital cameras that are so thin and compact that they can be taken just about anywhere."

The size of a credit card and weighing just 86 grams, the Exilim can be tagged onto a user's pocket. "It won't be visible in a short pocket, nor does it require any bulky camera bag," added Akira Tanaka, sales manager, Casio Dubai.

The Exilim EX-M1 comes with an MP3 function, which permits short movie recording with sounds. Casio has also released a related model —the Exilim Em-M1, which is equipped with an integrated MP3 player, a movie player (with sound) and recording function.
