ISS improves security for HP OpenView

HP and ISS are increasing the security features that are included in HP's OpenView network management software

HP and Internet Security Systems (ISS) have extended their relationship to offer more protection for HP OpenView users. The OpenView network management system already contains security applications from ISS, but the two companies have decided to go further and include even more functionality in OpenView.

At present, ISS provides RealSecure Network and Server Sensors to OpenView, which provide high speed intrusion detection, analysis and blocking. OpenView users also have access to ISS’ X-Force security research organisation and database.

The new addition to OpenView is the RealSecure SiteProtector Security Fusion Module, that uses security data correlation and analysis to warn users of likely security events.

“This is an important step in furthering our strategic relationship with HP,” said Steve Gant, VP solutions management and business development, ISS. “In addition to being technology partners, ISS plans to continue teaming in areas that make sense for both our businesses. HP OpenView is one of the most widely used and highly regarded network management tools. By continuing to integrate with HP, our joint customers will have more flexibility, visibility and control over their entire network and its security.”

Patty Azzarello, vice president and general manager of HP’s OpenView business unit said: “HP is excited to work with industry leaders such as ISS in order to offer our customers some of the industry’s best security solutions. This integration builds on HP’s strong relationship with ISS, helping our customers monitor and manage their security risks in an efficient, service driven manner.”
