New handheld PC has built-in wireless connectivity

Toshiba launches pocket-sized personal computer equipped with integrated wireless connectivity.

Just launched in the Middle East, Toshiba claims that its Pocket PC e740 PDA is the first on the market with options for integrated Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
The built-in Secure Digital (SD) and CompactFlash II (CF-II) expansion slots come with Bluetooth or WLAN CF Card and GPS capabilities. Unlike the e740, other PDAs require additional hardware to offer integrated Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The e740 also provides expansion options for instant data access.
The new Toshiba is built around Microsoft’s Pocket PC 2002 operating system, offering mobile workers the flexibility required to easily check e-mail, view files from the company network, or surf the Internet.
Features include the new Intel PXA250 Application Processor with Xscale Microarchitecture at 400MHz, 64MB RAM, 32MB Flash ROM and a 64K colour screen for clean images.
“The Pocket PC e740 is yet another display of Toshiba’s innovation in mobility by packing the latest in processing power and wireless connectivity into this tiny device,” said Willem Poterman, general manager of Toshiba’s European computer systems marketing division.
