Digital content for PDAs at the drop of a coin
nREACH's Mobile Content Kiosks make distributing and obtaining rich multimedia content as easy as a can of soda.
Lucky for PDA-equipped travellers passing through US airports this summer, they won’t have to fight the war against airborne boredom during long haul flights. The Mobile Content Kiosk by nREACH is being installed in airports and retail locations throughout America, and will offer PDA users a download point for obtaining films, music, games and software at a fee.
The Mobile Content Kiosk will provide instant access to rich, dynamic content and applications. The procedure is simple: customers insert a disc or memory card into a slot and then select the titles they wish to purchase. The digital content vender then transfers the files to the user’s chosen medium at impressive speed. The service is compatible with Palm, Pocket PC and Linux powered handhelds.
A fully customisable point of presence, end users can access all manner of content, from interactive guides and catalogues, to product information, news, maps, tickets and audio/video clips. This opens up a novel approach both to mobile entertainment and to marketing — and content providers will enjoy optimal system access, for easy content and price management.
Cosmi Corporation, the ‘budget only’ software developer, is one of the first companies to sign up with nREACH to distribute its wares via this new, PC-free channel.
“As the largest developer of PDA software, we are pleased to be working with nREACH to make our titles even more accessible,” said Herb Kraft, Cosmi’s vice president of publishing. “Digital distribution makes great sense for PDA titles, especially for those owners without a computer.”
