ComGuard warns against Internet terrorism

The governments of Arabian Gulf States are under immediate and constant threat of Internet terrorism, according to security software company ComGuard. Speaking at a recent gathering of e-government officials from across the region, the security solutions provider also warned that technology alone was not enough to escape Internet terrorism and that manual procedures were key.

“The Arabian Gulf States are under threat of being attacked and violated by cyber-terrorists located anywhere in the world, and the threat increases with each passing day because technology is not enough to prevent terrorism from striking deep into the heart of a government’s most sensitive data,” said Herbert Kamensky, managing director, ComGuard.

“Everyday, intrusions take place despite the presence of firewalls; theft of trade secrets takes place despite the presence of encryption; and Internet abuse flourishes despite corporate edicts against it. The Gulf states must deploy the world’s latest IT security technology, while also employing world-class manual procedures that significantly mitigate the possibility of both internal and external threats,” he added.
