Teledex files patent action against TeleMatrix

Teledex Corporation, a Middle East market-leading firm specialising in telephony for the hospitality industry, has filed a patent infringement action against TeleMatrix, Inc. of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

According to the filing - announced today in Dubai at The Hotels Exhibition 2002 - the alleged patent abuse relates to infringement of electronic line selection circuitry for hospitality telephones developed in Teledex research labs.

In addition to unspecified damages, Teledex is seeking protection for its patent from the courts, including an injunction prohibiting TeleMatrix from further infringement of the patent.

Ron Lesniak, president and CEO of Teledex, asserts: “We work very hard to bring new and innovative, quality products to the hotel industry, and we believe it's appropriate to stand up for our rights.”

Teledex develops easy-access data ports, multiple PBX compatibility and programmable guest service keys. The company holds an estimated 90 percent share of the market in telephones at Middle East hotels. Customers include most independent and leading hotel chains in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
