Dubai to Host Sound and Lighting Show

Sound and lighting technicians are set to gather at the region’s first dedicated trade show next year when the Pro Audio Light Middle East (PALME) takes place.

Organised by IIR Exhibitions & Conferences, PALME will be staged at the Dubai World Trade Centre on 16-18 February 2003 and is expected to attract delegates from the Middle East, India and the C.I.S. It complements IIR-led shows PALA, Asia’s largest entertainment technology event held in Singapore and Hong Kong, PALMM Philippines, which attracts over 7,000 visitors, and CALM China.

Jessica Sutherland, General Manager at IIR Conferences & Exhibitions, hopes the Middle East event will emulate its Far East sister shows’ successes. She said: “In the past the Middle East market was too small to justify the investment but a huge surge in entertainment, tourism and leisure facilities over the past few years has convinced us the region can now sustain this highly specialised exhibition.”

IIR hopes to attract manufacturers, distributors, rental companies and technology installers to the event. Avolites Middle East, which caters to the professional lighting sector, was among the initial exhibitionists to reserve space for the show.
