Logicom appointed IBM server distributor

Logicom has been appointed as an authorised distributor for the IBM X-server range of server products

Logicom has been appointed as a distributor for IBM’s X-series of servers. The distributor, which only began operations in the Gulf in October last year, has been a distributor for IBM desktop and ThinkPad products since November, but will now also carry the Intel-based range of servers.

The X-Series, which was previously known as the Netfinity range, is aimed at corporate resellers for deployment in private, government and educational establishments as LAN servers. Qaiser Butt, IBM product manager for Logicom explained: “Anywhere there is a LAN requirement, the X-series is a good solution. We are targeting the range at solution providers, who always have a hardware component to the type of solutions they are selling, so the X-series is a good fit for their server requirements. The range blends exceptional scalability, performance and manageability to deliver a revolutionary economic model for optimised IT resources.”

The distributor has already got some experienced with servers, said Butt, although two members of staff are currently in the process of gaining certification to become IBM server engineers. Logicom will be able to provide configuration and support for customers.
