Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak and HRH Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Alsaud, Saudi deputy premier and head of the National Guard inaugurated on Saturday, 8 May 2002 the Four Seasons Sharm El-Sheikh Resort.

After the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon, Prince Alwaleed accompanied the two leaders on a tour of the Four Seasons Resort in Sharm El-Sheikh, the most luxurious addition to the region.

“We are honored by the presence of President Mubarak and Crown Prince Abdullah in the Four Seasons Sharm El-Sheikh Resort. Their presence at a joint Saudi-Egyptian project symbolizes the strength of bilateral relations,” commented Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal.

The Four Seasons in Sharm El-Sheikh is one of several projects being developed by the Saudi Alexandria Tourism Projects Company, which is owned by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal though Kingdom Hotel Investment (KHI). Hisham Talaat Mustafa is also a co-owner as are a number of other investors.

The $120 million Four Seasons Sharm El-Sheikh resort is located 20 kilometers northeast of the coastal city of Sharm El-Sheikh. The resort enjoys a unique location atop a hill enabling visitors to experience the picturesque Red Sea and surrounding landscape.

The resort comprises one hundred forty one rooms, one hundred twelve 100-square meter bungalows, and two hundred forty 240-square meter villas. Project designers made use of the natural topography so that every room comes with a sea view.

This is the third Four Seasons project in Egypt. The Four Seasons Nile Plaza in Cairo is nearing completion, while another hotel in Cairo is being managed by the Four Seasons chain. Prince Alwaleed owns 24% of Four Seasons. The new resort has the largest mineral water spa in the Middle East. Four Seasons Sharm El-Sheikh also offers visitors a wide variety of aqua sports, and has a private marina for small and medium size yachts.

Elsewhere in the Middle East, several Four Season hotels are being developed. Last year, the Prince placed the corner stone for Four Seasons Damascus, located in the heart of the Syrian capital.

Preparations are underway for the ground breaking of a Four Seasons in Beirut. In the Jordanian capital of Amman, final preparations are taking place to open the Four Seasons there. And in the Saudi capital Riyadh, the Four Seasons Hotel, located in the 1000-foot high Kingdom Centre skyscraper, is expected to open later this summer.
