New modem standard hits Jordan

U.S. Robotics has launched its latest modem in Jordan, featuring improved download speeds and shorter connection times over existing phone lines.

Modem manufacturer U.S. Robotics has announced the introduction of its V.92 technology to the Jordanian market. V.92 brings enhanced Internet connection, usage and surfing capabilities, to suit the exact requirements and concerns of Jordanian Internet users.

It was created to make Internet services more compatible with household phone systems and enables users to experience rich sounds and vivid graphics, by allowing for the fastest possible connections over existing phone lines.

In fact the company claims the standard can actually save users money, since faster connection time and download speeds equals less time spent online.

The V.92 technology benefits from three unique features. First, it provides faster upload speeds and hence facilitates faster and smoother transmission of data. The second feature, referred to as ‘QuickConnect’ reduces the dial-up connection time by half, thus making remote data more readily accessible. The third feature, known as ‘Modem on Hold’, enables the user to receive an incoming call without losing his or her Internet connection.

The ‘Modem on Hold’ feature recognises and responds to inbound call signaling, allowing users with the call waiting service to put their internet session on hold in order to answer an incoming call, after which they can resume their Internet usage without facing any disruption.

“The Jordanian market is of key importance to us and we aim to bring the products that are best suited to meet Jordanian users’ requirements,” said Mahmoud Samy, regional sales manager, U.S. Robotics North Africa & Levant. “The V.92 adds features to earlier technologies yet manages to reduce the user’s cost. It marks another leap forwards in the Internet connectivity arena, providing the home user with a smooth and efficient Internet connection and in turn save them money This technology was especially designed for those of us with budget concerns.”
