US Robotics ties up with Logicom and Terranet for 56k access bundle
Lebanese Internet subscribers will be able to get 30 hours free Internet access with the purchase of US Robotics 56k modems
US Robotics has teamed up with Lebanese ISP Terranet and distributor Logicom to attract more users to the Internet in Lebanon. The companies will be offering 30 hours of free Internet access with all US Robotics internal and external 56k modems sold through Logicom’s network of resellers and PC assemblers.
Maya Mousalli, marketing manager, TerraNet said that the company had seen a strong uptake of Internet subscriptions in the country, but hoped that by offering an affordable access bundle, it could attract even more subscribers. There are an estimated 200,000 Internet subscribers in Lebanon, from a population of 3.5 million.
"Over the past years, we have seen a very active uptake of the Internet by the Lebanese population, yet there remains a huge potential for growth, and TerraNet wants to play a key role in realising this potential," she said.
The market for Internet access products has also proven to be a growth area, especially for US Robotics, which boasts around 35% market share. “We have long considered Lebanon as one of our strongest markets in the region, and a key area for growth”, said Mahmoud Samy, US Robotic’s regional sales manager for the Levant, Egypt and the Eastern Mediterranean. “We welcomed the idea of a joint campaign with Logicom and Terranet because it gives us the opportunity to partner with key players and take part in driving the Internet forwards in this strategic and dynamic market.”
Michael Papaeracleous, general manager of Logicom Middle East said that the deal marked an important tie up between two valued partners: “US Robotics is central to our strategy of providing all the tools to get everyone on the Internet. With the range of connection options they offer today, US Robotics is a leading provider of quality communication products that complete the hardware offerings for Logicom resellers. Terranet is a valuable partner to us as they share our strategic goal of quality provision of Internet services in Lebanon and are continuously investing in upgrading their internet infrastructure.”
