A number of global IT leaders are to visit Dubai for the Middle East Chief Information Officers’ Summit (MECIO’02). The event will bring together CIOs from around the region and leading figures from the computer industry.

Among the speakers will be representatives from the sponsors of MECIO’02, Computer Associates Middle East, Microsoft Gulf and Eastern Mediterranean and SAP Arabia.

Michael Jaeger, Computer Associates’s European director of emerging solutions, will speak about infrastructure and e-business. Abdulaziz Al-Salloum, managing director, Computer Associates Middle East, explains that “the Middle East CIO summit encourages participants to exchange ideas candidly and constructively, as well as discuss strategies for success and leadership in the next generation of e-business. We will look at the tools today’s CIOs require to facilitate all aspects of e-business management — including infrastructure, process and information”.

Bob McDowell, corporate vice president, world wide services, Microsoft, will present a speech about the evolution of application software integration, the introduction of the “programmable web” and the evolution of “web services.” Later, Sami Hero, vice president for global marketing for core business applications, SAP, will talk about how to improve business processes with core business applications.

“Nowadays executives are reaching for business processes beyond their enterprise and they are asking for software that supports relationships with their suppliers, customers and partners. Through this targeted event we are looking to give the CIOs in this region insights into the challenges they face daily,” says Essam Enany, president, SAP Arabia.

The event will be held on May 11th and 12th at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Further information can be found at www.mecio.net.
