CCS and STS land major deal for Jordanian universities
STS and CCS of Jordan have won a major contract to equip and install over 3,000 Dell PCs and servers in the country's public universities
Computer and Communications Systems (CCS) and STS Group have won a major contract to equip all of Jordan’s public universities with IT infrastructure. The deal, awarded by the National Centre for Human Resources Development (NCHRD), will require a major roll out of Dell, Compaq and 3Com hardware in the eight universities across the kingdom.
The deployment is in accordance with King Abdullah’s directive on the usage of the Internet in higher education, and will address the IT requirements of 150,000 students and faculty. The aim is to bring awareness and experience of IT and the Internet to students across the Kingdom.
The initial contract requires 3,100 Dell Optiplex PCs, 44 Dell PowerEdge departmental servers, 47 Compaq Ipaq PDAs, 2,800 multimedia projectors, 130 3Com SuperStack 3 switches and 140 Tally T9120 heavy duty laser printers. The roll out will bring the installed base of PCs in Jordanian public universities to 9,000, and servers to 200.
