Benq reports increasing demand for LCD monitors in the region

The manufacturer formerly known as Acer says that demand is growing rapidly for LCD monitors in the Middle East

Benq is reporting an upsurge in demand for LCD monitors in the Middle East. The vendor said that demand for LCD units has increased from 2,000 units per month in 2001 to over 5,000 per month this year. Benq is claiming market leadership in the region, with a 25% market share.

“The Middle East region's business and consumer users of information technology are increasingly aware of global innovation in the area of LCD display, and they require space-saving, stylish designs that bring enjoyment to the world of personal computing,” said Robert Dung, regional MD, Benq Middle East.

Growing demand is causing shortages of LCD panels worldwide, according to some analysts. There is also a shortage of the material used to build the LCDs, which may cause price increases in the near future.
