EMC drives next level NAS

EMC Middle East is looking to strengthen its position in the local network attached storage (NAS) market with its latest offerings for the EMC Celerra File Server.

EMC Middle East is looking to strengthen its position in the local network attached storage (NAS) market with its latest hardware, software and service offerings for the EMC Celerra File Server.

Through a number of additional features and upgrades, the latest offering is designed to increase the capacity, performance, connectivity and manageability of NAS implementations while providing a platform for NAS/SAN integration.

Thierry Louesse, regional general manager for EMC Middle East, explains that there is a growing demand from local companies for NAS at the core business function level as their storage requirements become more advanced.

“Many customers who adopted NAS for the cost and productivity benefits of file-based consolidation have now scaled their infrastructures to a level that demands a higher order of NAS capability,” he says.

“With today’s announcements, EMC is extending the promise of NAS, while at the same time delivering the hyper-consolidation, platform automation, and business continuity that enterprises in the Middle East require,” he adds.

Key improvements to the Celerra File Server include improved clustering through Celerra Data Mover 510, Windows 2000 support, a configuration wizard, NAS migration services and concurrent copy backup.
