EIM slashes prices
Emirates Internet and Multimedia has reduced its Internet leased line rates by more than 50% as it looks to drive Internet adoption within the UAE.
Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM) has reduced its Internet leased line rates by more than 50% as it looks to drive Internet adoption within the UAE. By more than halving monthly charges, the monopoly provider hopes to encourage more businesses, schools and universities to get online.
“A key objective for us is to support the UAE government’s drive to e-enable all businesses and to help all education authorities in the country to maximise the learning potential of the Internet,” says Maroua Naim, general manager of Emirates Internet and Multimedia.
“We are making advanced Internet access accessible to all businesses and educational institutions in the UAE, and this initiative is a big step in that direction,” she adds.
The price reductions have been made possible by the significant drop in the cost of international Internet bandwidth and EIM’s developing infrastructure. As a result, from May 1st 2002 128 K/bytes/per/sec access will be priced at Dhs 2,900 monthly compared to the existing Dhs 7,000.
