Siemens Mobile e-Quiz targets students

In a move to combine learning and entertainment, the Siemens Mobile e-Quiz 2002 has been launched on dubaiquiz.com, and is open to all UAE students between the ages of eight and 18.

In a move to combine learning and entertainment, the Siemens Mobile e-Quiz 2002, which comprises a whole range of quizzes and contests, has been launched on dubaiquiz.com. Open to all UAE students between the ages of eight and 18, the project will be overseen by a core committee chaired by Dr. Juma Al Matrooshi and prominent people from schools, media, business houses, government departments and corporate houses. The Quiz is scheduled to run from the 7th of April to the 30th of May.

Speaking at the launch of the Siemens Mobile e-quiz 2002, Shahzad Ahmed, regional marketing manager, Siemens Mobile Devices Middle East commented: "This is an innovative and dynamic event that will bring Siemens closer to the youth segment, who are keen to embrace new technologies and communications platforms.

Joining Siemens in the e-quiz venture are Dubai Internet City and Dubai Knowledge Village. “Our support for Siemens Mobile E-Quiz 2002 is in line with our strategy of promoting events that enable young talent to share information and knowledge,” stated Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, CEO, Dubai Internet City. Through its subsidiary units DataFort and the eHosting Centre, DIC is providing the entire infrastructure and technical support for hosting the E-Quiz programme online.

“Competitions like E-Quiz play a great role in promoting talent and encouraging young people to develop the skills and intellectual discipline for acquiring knowledge,” stated Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, director of Knowledge Village, who added that it was part of the Village’s strategy to promote a culture of lifelong learning. Although the e-quiz currently targets young students, Jamshed Mehdi, CEO of dubaiquiz.com expressed hope that the concept would be expanded to include college students, professionals and housewives as well. “Also, by next year e-Quiz should be open to schools throughout the GCC,” he stated.

Prizes to the tune of Dhs 200,000 will be given away to winners. Prizes include computers, printers, CD players, MP3 players, computer courses, sports bags and more. Grand prizes will also be offered at a mega off-line carnival.
