Wisden to continue live cricket streaming

Cricket fans will be pleased with the news that website Wisden.com will continue its relationship with BBC Technology and Pacific Century Cyberworks to stream all live international cricket from India live across the Internet.

Cricket fans will be pleased with the news that website Wisden.com will continue its relationship with BBC Technology and Pacific Century Cyberworks to stream all live international cricket from India live across the Internet. The agreement will continue until 2004.

The move follows the successful streaming of the recent one-day series between England and India, and will continue to use footage from Indian National Broadcaster Doordarshan.

Enthused Robin Bevan, CEO of Wisden.com, the Internet arm of the now legendary Wisden Cricketers Almanac: “The really exciting thing about streaming live cricket over the Internet is that it brings live cricket to a whole new audience – for the many fans who are at work during the matches or who do not have access to television.”

BBC Technology will produce, encode and stream the highlights packages from its centres in London and Reading.

Concluded chief executive of BBC Technology Philip Langsdale: “We are delighted to team together our expertise delivering digital solutions for one of the world’s leading broadcasters with [Wisden].”
