U.S. Robotics has revealed that the initial modem offerings from its strategic partnership with Analog Devices will be available for the region’s small office/home office (SOHO) users in the second quarter of this year.

The modems will feature Analog Device’s Eagle xDSL chipset and universal serial bus (USB) technology, as well as improved software tools for easier installation and improved troubleshooting and security capabilities.

“US Robotics is concentrating its efforts on bringing full Internet access solutions at the best price points for small-to-medium businesses in the Middle East. With Analog Device’s established presence in the DSL market and U.S. Robotics’ well-known brand, we are in a great position to add new and compelling features and benefits for both the service provider and consumer in the region,” said Yusuf Syed, regional sales director, Middle East and India, U.S. Robotics.

“Our extensive distribution channels and ADI’s telecom relationships will allow us to effectively facilitate mass broadband deployment,” he added.

“Working with a single, high-quality chipset provider enables standardisation and more efficient product cycles, allowing US Robotics to develop features and software updates which can be distributed across the entire product line,” explained Jim Thomsen, DSL modem product manager, U.S. Robotics. “The suite of modems will feature new software tools allowing easier consumer installation, seamless upgrade, enhanced security, diagnostics and connection monitoring. This translates to lower support and deployment costs to the service provider while at the same time improving the customer’s Internet experience.”
