IBM delivers a road worthy workstation

IBM has introduced its first Mobile P4 notebook to the region as it looks to deliver workstation class performance to the road warrior.

IBM has introduced its first Mobile P4 notebook to the region as it looks to deliver workstation class performance to the road warrior. Boasting a travel weight of 7.1-pounds, 2-hour battery life and 256 M/Bytes of memory as standard the ThinkPad A31p provides users with both power and portability.

Connectivity is handled through the A31p’s communications bay while select models include both 802.11b and Bluetooth. Graphics requirements are dealt with by the notebook’s ATI Mobility FireGL 7800 technology and are viewed via IBM’s 15-inch UXGA FlexView display.

“Until now, there’s never been a fully-functional mobile alternative for workstation users,” says Sameh Farid, regional manager, personal systems group, Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan.

“We are very excited about the ThinkPad A31p as it offers power users that were previously wired to their desks the freedom and flexibility to leave the workplace and create and design wherever and whenever they want. By allowing designers, scientists or engineers to do their jobs anywhere, the A31p significantly increases their flexibility and overall productivity,” he adds.
