Acer Computer (ME) achieved an overall growth of 20% in its 2001 sales over that of the year 2000. The company attributed its sales growth to the increasing demand for advanced IT applications and services in the Gulf region.

“The GCC is moving fast-forward with the adoption of advanced IT applications and services across all its industrial sectors, from government ministries to educational organisations to private sector enterprises,” said Eric Tien, managing director, Acer Computer (ME).

In 2001, Acer’s sales grew by 80% over 2000 in its commercial PCs segment, and 62% in its enterprise server units segment. The company attributed its growth rate to successful penetration into the educational and governmental sectors which included deals with the Ministries of Education, Defence and Interior.

In 2002, the company is also aiming at deeper penetration into the education, providing training programmes to its channel partners and enhancing its presence in the consumer market.
