Cisco has recognised its channel partners in its annual awards event, held yesterday in Dubai, UAE. The awards were judged on quality of service and support by region for the Middle East and North Africa.

Companies awarded included: NCR (UAE), Gulf Business Machines (Gulf), Getronics (KSA), Tritech (Egypt), DataConsult (Levant) and 3S (Maghreb). Two other awards were made, Getronics’ Khaldoun Abdoul Saoud was named Outstanding individual of the year and NCR was named as overall Channel Partner of the Year in the Middle East.

Presenting the awards, Daryl Brooke, director of operations for Global Alliances and Systems Integrators at Cisco said: “Our channel partners play a key role in accelerating the introduction of internet business solutions in their communities and helping Cisco in the realisation of its vision to leverage the internet across the globe. Every one of our Channel Partners has performed exceptionally well in 2001, and this made our task of picking winners extremely difficult. In the end, these companies were selected for their continued innovation and efforts in improving customer satisfaction.”

Cisco has recently re-organised its channel structure to categorise its partners into three tiers, and put more emphasis on adding value and expertise when it it comes to distributors to allow the technology to become more readily available in the SMB sector.
