BSA runs reseller awareness seminar

The BSA (Business Software Alliance) is holding a series of presentations for resellers, aimed at educating their staff on the dangers of software piracy and explaining what they stand to gain from using properly licensed software.

The seminar is part of the BSA’s Great Opportunity campaign that is running for 45 days from the start of Ramadan. Members of the BSA are attending to remind resellers of the deals they are offering during this period if they license authorised software.

Mazhar Chawla, the American Computers delegate, said: “Illegal software harms the market because it takes away from the value that we, as resellers can offer our customers. Also, illegal software dealers compete with us unfairly because they are following unethical business practices.”

Jawad Al Redha, the BSA’s regional director, said: “We consider resellers to be our pertners. It is important for us to let them know the value that this campaign brings to them. By helping their customers license software, they open up new avenues for their business in terms of pre and post sales support, training, etc.”

The BSA wants resellers onboard to help audit the software their customers are running. When companies call the BSA to inquire about licensing, the BSA sends a reseller partner to the company to audit its software and help it start the legalisation process.
