Doha to host ARABCOM 2002 Forum & Exhibition
The 5th Annual Arab International Telecom, IT , Post and Broadcasting forum and expo for the Arab States(ARABCOM) as well as the General ministerial meeting (ARABSAT) will be held in Doha from April 21-23 next year.
The 5th Annual Arab International Telecom, IT , Post & Broadcasting forum and expo for the Arab States (ARABCOM)as well as the General ministerial meeting (ARABSAT) will be held in Doha from April 21-23 next year. This is the first time that ARABCOM is being held outside of Beirut. Some 1,000 delegates are expected to attend from over 70 countries for the three-day forum, which will take place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Doha. An exhibition will be held simultaneously at the Qatar International Exhibition Centre, in which major international and regional telecom, IT, Broadcast, Post, and communication companies will take part, Arabcom president Katia Tayar said during the press conference, held recently in Qatar.
The Arabcom , now in its 5th year, is widely recognized as the region’s pre-eminent telecommunications, IT, postal & broadcasting industry event and provides the highest profile platform for the establishment of constructive dialogue between regional senior government officials and an array of international project developer, bankers, financiers, investors, multilateral agencies, specialists and advisors. Sector leaders are brought together to stimulate political and strategic initiatives, build government and private sector partnerships for regional telecommunications, IT, postal and broadcasting industry expansion, and explores the latest innovations in these fields.
The Arab region presents an attractive market for the telecom, IT, postal and broadcasting industry. The Arab states telecommunications, IT, postal & broadcasting industry is booming with experts suggesting that over US $ 30 billion would be spent on upgrades and new facilities in the Arab states over the next five years.
Topics that will be discussed at the forum include e-government, privatisation, liberalisation and the regulatory aspects of Telecoms, evolution of PDA Handhelds, Bluetooth technology, Call Centres, GSM development in the Arab States, e-commerce, e-banking, e-services, Internet Security and mobile commerce. The exhibition will also highlight related products and services.
