Ericsson to open up service delivery centre in Lebanon
Beirut facility will serve regional and global customers
Ericsson has announced a new global service delivery centre to be opened next year in Beirut, Lebanon. The centre will initially employ a staff of 100 and will serve regional and global customers.
The new global service delivery centre in Beirut is a result of the expansion of Ericsson’s services business, and is in line with the company’s plans to continue to develop global and local services and delivery capabilities, the firm claimed.
“I am impressed with the business growth in the Middle East and Africa,” said Fredrik Strand, vice president and head of Service Delivery within Ericsson. “We are a global company and our service delivery organisation provides a global structure that includes local capabilities in order to meet our customer’s demands.”
The current Ericsson services organisation employs around 23,000 professionals worldwide, 6,500 of whom are employed in global service delivery centres.
Ericsson has 18 delivery centres around the world that are designed to ensure business readiness for the global market.
They support global and regional demand by providing global expertise cost-efficiently, supporting the expansion of Ericsson’s services business.
Ericsson has activities and operations in 14 countries in the Middle East and offices in 11 of them (the exceptions are Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan) employing around 1,800 staff. Ericsson does business with more then 20 operators in the region.
Earlier this year Ericsson also announced plans to launch its first connected media centre in the region in Amman, Jordan, with technical infrastructure support being established in Saudi Arabia.
The aim of the centre is to help mobile operators and media companies in the region to develop and offer content ranging from basics such as news and ring tones, all the way to advanced services such as full length music, mobile TV, and instant messaging (IM).
Separately, Ericsson also announced that it has launched the third release of its MX-ONE, unified platform for enterprise communications.
The solution enables enterprises to control and reduce total cost of ownership by delivering high accessibility and flexibility. It provides smooth and safe migration to a future-proof internet protocol (IP) network at a pace appropriate to individual enterprises’ needs.
