In addition to previewing Windows XP, Microsoft will endeavour to show the region's organisations how they can achieve business agility through technology as it showcases a number of its latest technologies.

On the PC front, Office XP will be present in all its glory — Smart Tags and all, while those on the move should be able to draw inspiration from the company's mobile devices stand, which will demonstrate the latest "new economy" productivity devices.

The Microsoft.NET technology framework will also be on display. Built on open standards, the .NET platform enables the creation and use of XML-based applications and processes to allow the sharing and combination of information and functionality between any platform. The solution is designed to be Microsoft's comprehensive, Internet-based solution that transforms software into an agile service that empowers businesses.

MSN Arabia, the first international portal to enter the Arab World, will also be present at Microsoft's stand during Gitex 2001. With local content and services provided by content partners in the region, MSN Arabia aims to provide Arab users with the highest quality of localised, customised content and services while providing opportunities for local companies to develop their web expertise and skills.

Gitex 2001 will also see the official launch of Microsoft's Mobile Information Server (MIS) — the latest addition to the .Net Enterprise Server family. Incorporated on stand will be live demonstrations and presentations from Microsoft GEM officials.

Finally, the software giant will use the show to explain how the company's consulting and support services take the concept of technology to a different level and see higher ROI through the use of Microsoft products.
