Cisco maps out the future of the Internet

Cisco Systems will be focusing on the ‘Internet roadmap to business e-fficiency’ for the smaller organisation, and Cisco AVVID (architecture for voice, video and integrated data) for larger enterprises and service providers as it rolls its AVVID truck into the show.

The giant articulated truck will be crammed with the latest in Cisco’s converged voice, video and data networking technology and enable customers to see demonstrations of its technology in action.

The company hopes its work at Gitex will develop a new generation of Internet-enabled business, where SMB owners will be educated in how technology can leverage business opportunities. Of particular interest will be Cisco’s recently released ultra-high bandwidth Gigabit over Copper solutions.

For the large enterprise and service provider, Cisco will have solutions designed to extend the network beyond the LAN — to make it a strategic weapon in capturing new markets — on display. Also at the show will be IP Telephony solutions, IP Contact Centre technology and Unified Messaging Web/call centre integration, and security technology.

“Cisco is focusing increasingly on communicating the strength of an entire solution for individual markets, and is integrating the Gitex activities into long term campaigns around the region, rather than just showing off new products,” said Wendy Awai, marketing communications manager, Cisco ME.
