Cisco’s training partner, Synergy, has boosted its course line-up, adding several new courses and providing engineers and technology partners with a unique offering from service providers, APSs and telcos.

Visitors to Cisco’s Gitex stand will be able to get the inside track on the training courses, which will include a new certificate, the Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional, providing engineers with skills in infrastructure or access solutions in a Cisco end-to-end environment.

CCIP professionals will be given a detailed understanding and hands-on experience of the diverse technologies in the telecommunications arena, including IP routing, IP multicast, cable, DSL, content networking and IP telephony. Courses provided are BSCI, QOS, MCAST and MPLS.

While a further certification for managers of technology projects is the Cisco Internet Solutions Specialist. This certification concentrates on providing managers at service providers and large enterprises with an in-depth understanding of how e-commerce and e-business platforms can be developed, combined with a grounding in the relevant technologies.

The CISS designation focuses on bridging the knowledge gap between the strengths of Cisco hardware/services and the development of Internet business solutions.

The CISS training is made up of three courses: Architecture Essentials (CISA), Applications Essentials (CISAE), and Solutions (CISSS).

Synergy will also be packaging several high-level security courses into a multi-day session. The courses in PIX Security Fundamentals and Security Advanced have been combined into a single four-day course, rather than the normal two day and three day sessions.

Management certifications have been combined in a similar way: CiscoWork Fundamentals and CiscoWorks LAN/WAN can be taken over a single six to seven day course (rather than the four days plus five days normally required).

Synergy is also running other specialised courses in IP Telephony, as well as the voice technology course (CVOICE), in its Cisco Qualified Specialist track. While, MPLS, a specialisation course for service providers and unique to the Middle East, has also been added.
