Banish those hungry e-mails

Maxtor and Veritas have teamed up to offer a cost-effective solution for managing Microsoft Exchange e-mail storage.

Maxtor and Veritas have teamed up to offer a cost-effective solution for managing Microsoft Exchange e-mail storage. By removing e-mail attachments from a company’s servers and storing them remotely companies should realize significant cost savings.

In addition, customers should also benefit from easier deployment and use whilst, with less old data to deal with, performance should be both faster and more efficient as 80 % of the storage volume is removed from the Exchange server.

Other features include quicker disaster recovery as migrating data from the Exchange server means less data to backup regularly, whilst the Maxtor MaxAttach NAS 4100 also features RAID 5 support, dual 10/100 Ethernet ports for load balancing and fail-over capability, and an uninterrupted power supply port.

“Microsoft Exchange was designed for sending and routing e-mails, not as a data repository,” explains Eric Kelly, president, Maxtor’s Network Systems Group. “The sheer volume of e-mail attachments, particularly those with rich-media content, can quickly fill up a Microsoft Exchange server. We teamed with Veritas Software to provide an elegant solution for coping with e-mail overload without the additional complexity of adding more Microsoft Exchange servers to a network or limiting the size of users’ mailboxes.”

“The VERITAS-Maxtor bundled solution is a true communications solution for companies grappling with e-mail overload,” adds John Maxwell, vice president of product marketing, VERITAS Software.

The MaxAttach exchange e-mail relief bundle is available through Maxtor EMEA distributors.
