Online-only Arabic newspaper goes live

Elaph utilises KnowledgeView’s publishing and syndication software, Rapid Publish, to combine text, images, audio and video online.

Othman Omeir has introduced an all-electronic Arabic newspaper, entitled Elaph. The newspaper runs on KnowledgeView’s publishing and syndication software, Rapid Publish.

Elaph attempts to go beyond conventional online newspapers by supporting text, images, audio, and video. The RAPID Publish allows editorial departments in the UK, Morocco, Lebanon and other countries to work together as a single workgroup.

“Elaph is going to focus on objective and non-traditional delivery of news that will provide a unique, intuitive news reading experience combining excellent news content with excellent delivery technology,” says Othman Omeir, publisher of Elaph.

“There are many unique and exciting announcements to follow that will be launched in the coming months and that are designed with the Arab user in mind.”

Dr. Ali Al-Assam, chairman of KnowledgeView, added: “The development of this advanced editorial and content management system for Elaph demonstrates KnowledgeView’s commitment to developing the most advanced software for Arabic electronic publishing and to working with the most prominent Arab journalists and publishers.

"In addition, it demonstrates our commitment to become leading contributors in the region’s advancement and usage of technology for the media, education, and e-government sectors.”

Rapid Publish is designed to automate online content publishing. It is based on Java technology and supports standards such as XML and JDBC.
