IBM continues to grow in US server market

IBM is consolidating its position at the top of the US server market, according to Gartner Dataquest figures, IBM’s share in the market grew by 6.7 points in the first quarter of 2001.

IBM is consolidating its position at the top of the US server market, according to Gartner Dataquest figures, IBM’s share in the market grew by 6.7 points in the first quarter of 2001.

The report also revealed that IBM’s revenue in the US market had grown 21% year-on-year.

“The latest figures from Dataquest demonstrate IBMs server leadership in the US and throughout the world, and continue to indicate that the IBM eServer lineup is winning in the marketplace,” said Mark Shearer, vice president of marketing, IBM eServer.

IBM’s also gained 5.4 share points over the year in the Unix server market in the US, while its revenue share increased from 15.9% in first quarter 2000 to 21.3% in the first quarter this year.
