Club Nokia opens its doors
The influx of mobile technology has made it near impossible to ignore the convergence between Internet and telecommunications. Phone giants, Nokia, took advantage of the virtual communication melange recently by rolling out the Middle Eastern division of its latest digital service – Welcome to Club Nokia.
Recently Finnish telecommunication giants, Nokia, unveiled its new web-based service for Nokia mobile phone owners. Club Nokia, is the latest in digital Internet services marketed in the UAE. “This value-added service truly enhances your experiences of owning a Nokia mobile phone. At the same time, it reinforces our commitment to delivering innovation and excellence to the region. We are constantly striving to raise the bar and surpass our customers expectations, Club Nokia does exactly that,” explained Eddie Maalouf, marketing manager, Nokia Mobile Phones, Gulf.
Nokia’s game-plan is to educate mobile phone users into the world of service-ware that exists beyond the bounds of the handset. Mobile providers have been busy packing handsets with features, the more the merrier. “Nokia is looking beyond that,” adds Maalouf, “the demand will inevitably shift and customers will be more concerned with the reliability of value added services and that’s where Club Nokia steps in to deliver.” The website has been in operation for the past 5 years in Europe, but last weeks launch makes it the first of its kind in this part of the world.
The trendy new website offers members an array of products and service extensions downloadable to their mobile handsets. From screen saver and profile graphics to ringing tones and games. The site also includes an e-mail support system and an on-the-spot care-line. Though the site currently operates in English, Nokia is working on configuring the system to Arabic amongst other languages.
