Compaq and Microsoft launch affordable e-biz for SMBs
Affordable online e-business technology is not something that SMBs in the region have found easy to come by, but Compaq and Microsoft GEM have moved to solve the problem.
Affordable online e-business technology is not something that small to medium businesses in the region have found easy to come by, but Compaq and Microsoft GEM have signalled a commitment to ending that problem. The two companies have partnered to create an entry-level e-business solution using Microsoft’s productivity software and Compaq’s ProLiant server range.
“Small and medium businesses can benefit as much, if not more, as any large enterprise, by adopting online business technology,” said Joe Devassy, OEM manager at Microsoft GEM. “The challenge for smaller organisations is often the uncertainty about what they need to buy and whether they can afford it. We have created an affordable out-of-the box server solution especially for our small and medium customers in the region, by combining a powerful server with a highly scalable e-mail system, a powerful database and the Web services to power them online.”
The solution was officially launched in May during a series of road shows, which in Abu Dhabi and continued on to Bahrain, Qatar, Dubai, Oman and Kuwait.
“This is a great package for small and medium businesses to step into e-commerce initiatives, with the confidence that the entire package has been carefully designed to have minimum installation complexities,” said Devassy.
