Avaya's iPatch improves cable management
Avaya is broadening cable network management capabilities with the iPatch monitoring system, which will track, locate and record the status of port connections at the patch panel.
Avaya is broadening cable network management capabilities with the iPatch monitoring system. A combination of software and electronically enabled hardware enables the iPatch to continuously monitor and record the status of port connections at the patch panel.
iPatch tracks the location, availability and use of the ports, creating a connectivity map showing patch cord links between the network equipment and user voice and data workstation outlets. The solution also provides audible warnings and updates the map anytime a port change occurs.
“Most businesses today rely on paper records or electronic spreadsheets to keep track of port changes. Over time, the records can get out of sync with the reality,” said George Brooks, iPatch system product manager, Avaya. “The iPatch system eliminates questionable records, making it easier to quickly and accurately perform patch cord moves, adds and changes, and thus minimising the risk of unnecessary downtime.”
The patch panel is built on the Systimax 1100 panel design and is available in 24 or 48 port configurations for Systimax Gigaspeed or Systimax power sum applications.
