Dell supercharges desktop and workstation range

Dell has incorporated the latest in Intel Pentium technology into the latest incarnations of its Precision and Dimension models, both running at 1.7 GHz.

Dell has dramatically upped the power of its most popular desktop and workstation models, with the announcement that the Dimension 8100 and Precision 330 have both been upgraded to 1.7GHz Pentium 4-level performance. Both products are available in the region from today.

“This kind of power gives the consumer, home worker and small business Dimension users more sophisticated, workstation-like levels of performance,” said Pierre Vigna, head of Dimension desktops, EMEA.

Precision workstations are intended for professional users involved in the digital content creation (DCC), computer-aided design (CAD), geographic information systems (GIS), computer animation, software development and financial analysis arenas.

An example of the new Precision 330 workstation configuration includes the Intel Pentium 4 processor at 1.7 GHz, 128 MB RDRAM, Matrox G450 32MB graphics card, 20 GB1 IDE hard disk drive, 48X-maximum CD ROM drive and Windows 2000.
