Gulf Business Machines (GBM), and IBM are targeting the hospitality and retail sectors with IBM’s SurePOS 500 and NetVista Kiosk solutions.
The SurePOS 500 is specifically designed for the food and hospitality industry, and provides flexibility with applications that can be configured for a variety of businesses whether they are fast food outlets or fine dining restaurants.
“The IBM SurePOS 500 provides dual-display operation, supports multimedia, has a built-in presence sensor and is equipped with Internet capabilities, setting standards for customer service and optimising operator efficiency,” said Atalay Sofuoglu, GBM’s regional systems sales manager.
The solution also includes other industry specific products, such as the IBM SureMark printer, the IBM SurePoint solution with graphical, user interface and high resolution video, which can also operate as a touch screen, and the IBM Kitchen system, which supports the latest kitchen software appliances.
IBM is promising its NetVista Kiosk will enable consumers to shop for whatever they want, whenever they want and wherever they want. The kiosk features a touch screen and multimedia capabilities with virtual inventories, as well as allowing customers to purchase gift vouchers and apply for credit facilities.
“This solution helps retailers reach more customers as busy shoppers can use the kiosks for fast and convenient self-service. Customer spending can be boosted through interactive sales, such as personalised orders and try before-you-buy options, which pave the way for upselling and cross selling,” added Sofuolgu.
