50% of consumers use a PC to surf the Web

In a survey carried out by Intel at this year’s Dubai Shopping Festival, it was revealed that half of consumers use a PC to access the Internet<br>

According to a survey by Intel, surfing the Net is the main use of a PC in the Middle East. The research was carried out during the Dubai Shopping Festival and analysed by Interpro.

The survey results have shown that 52% of participants use their PCs to browse the Web or plan to purchase a PC for that purpose. 45% believe that a PC has the advantage of helping them build their own Web sites and 18% feel it helps them do their shopping from home.

“These results show that Middle East consumers are increasingly adopting new technologies to raise the quality of their lifestyles,” said Gilbert Lacroix, Intel’s general manager for the Middle East and North Africa. “As the number of Internet connections in the region will pass the four-million mark shortly, we believe that there is a great potential for electronic commerce here,” he added.
