MOI modernises public services
The State of Kuwait has modernised the delivery of public services in the country, following a revamp of the country's government IT infrastructure<br>
Kuwait's Ministry of Interior (MOI) has completed the first phase of its transition towards an 'e-interior'. A partnership between MOI, IBM and Khorafi Business Machines (KBM) has implemented several e-government initiatives that were first launched at the beginning of 2000.
"The completion of this phase has produced seamless integration of 13 national government systems, which allows electronic processing capabilities in several areas," said Fahad Jafar, director general, Computer and Information Systems Centre, MOI, Kuwait. The areas include immigration, visa processing and certain areas of the Kuwaiti criminal justice system.
"These initiatives have enabled us to successfully run our mission critical systems and ensure the transformation and integration of government service departments," said Jafar.
Several further projects have been recently tendered and a number of contracts will shortly be signed to transform the entire remaining IT infrastructure.
