Microsoft opens Amman, Jordan office

"As information technology continues to play a vital part in the Jordanian economy, we welcome Microsoft's presence here," comments Jordan's King Abdullah.

Microsoft officially opened its Amman, Jordan office on Tuesday, a year after the company entered into an enterprise agreement with Amman, covering most of the government’s software requirements. The move follows Microsoft GEM's original announcement in December last year to establish a local office there.

Bahram Mohazzebi, general manager of Microsoft Gulf and Eastern Mediterranean, commented that the company’s ongoing operations in Jordan would be given a further push now that the office has been opened. “Developing strong local partnerships is central to our business vision, and is one of the key objectives that the local office will be working towards,” he said.

Jordan’s King Abdullah welcomed Microsoft’s arrival in his country, commenting that “as a nation, Jordan has the resources, as well as the expertise in sustaining growth IT growth and development in the new digital economy and we believe that international investment is an indication of this empowerment.”

Nasser Khalifeh will act as the business development manager (BDM) for the new operation. Khalifeh will head a locally based team, responsible for driving the company's involvement in Jordan to new levels.
