Surplex.com to take charge of construction

Local companies may have missed the online marketplace opportunity for the construction industry as Berlin-based Suplex.com moves into Bahrain.

Surplex.com, an Internet-based marketplace for used plant, machinery and excess inventory and has opened an office in Bahrain to cater for Middle East business.

“In our business, regional markets such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, and Central Asia offer huge e-commerce potential. Bahrain’s excellent government support, advanced telecommunications infrastructure and minimal registration formalities were key to our establishment here,” said Dieter Liebich, business development manager of the Bahrain operation.

The Internet platform lists ‘surplus’, or new products that are often sold at a discount, as well as some used goods. It features a categorical listing of items across a number of industries, including food processing, construction, medical equipment, consumer products, plant and machinery, metal processing, agriculture and retail equipment.

According to the company, it can offer all the services required to make transactions over the Web possible, as well as economical for both the buyer and seller of goods, anywhere in the world.
