Bazar1.com e-commerce workshop in Sharjah

The Bazar1.com bandwagon is touring the UAE to demonstrate its new online mall backed by IBM technology.

The Bazar1.com circus arrived in Sharjah at the end of September after a previous stop in Dubai at the Emirates Towers.

Bazar1.com held a workshop for traders and press to demonstrate its new online store, set to open on November 15. An actual store was created online to demonstrate the benefits to online trading.

Bazar1.com presented the services it offers, which includes a full a business solutions package. “Bazar1.com technology and services … include e-commerce store building, hosting services, Internet dealing, electronic payment, delivery and shipping,” said Khaiyam Ismail, general manager.

Bazaar1.com is backed by some big names, with Arabian Leopard LLC as sponsor and IBM as its technology provider. Ismail was keen to stress the security aspects of the Bazar1.com site. It offers its own secure credit card, Safe2Charge++, which is guaranteed against fraud. The credit card also offers low transaction charges of 2.5%. Bazar1.com, however, cannot guarantee transactions made on other credit cards.

That’s not the only worry against the Bazar1.com package. The company isn’t even sure whether or not companies need to have a trading license or not. The set-up of the mall is also unclear and there are certain issues about outlet placement which haven’t been addressed. A company has no control over where it will be situated in the mall.
