Online recruitment specialist targets Middle East
CareerMidEast.com, from its roots in Egypt, is branching out across the region. From today, it can offer employer and job seeker services in 12 countries.
CareerMidEast.com, a Web-based recruitment service, has opened across the region.
The company, which began in Egypt as CareerEgypt.com, has added 11 other Middle East and North African channels to its site including all countries of the GCC.
The Internet startup, which is run by young Egyptian e-entrepreneurs, has secured finance worth LE 5 million (US$1.37 million) from EFG Hermes, a regional investment bank.
“The Internet has broken all the rules of how a business can operate; all the rules, except one. Without good people with the right mix of knowledge and skills, an organisation can never reach its potential. We see CareerMidEast.com as hugely powerful ally in matching the opportunities with the talents, to let this region become place where dot.com ventures can thrive,” said Sherif El Ghatrifi, chief operating officer and co-founder, for CareerMidEast.com.
Online recruitment sites across the world have been criticised recently for offering little more than a list of jobs and candidates. Little has been done, argue analysts, to screen candidates and jobs to help employers find suitable matches.
Tarek Amin, chief marketing officer for CareerMidEast.com, says they are different. “CareerMidEast.com is more than a comprehensive list of jobs on a website – it is a truly pioneering service,” he said. “We have developed a total recruitment solution which is designed to match the requirements of Middle East organisations, with complementary resources such as career information, personal and career evaluation tools, and company profiles, which help job seekers plan a career, rather than just get a job.”
