Emirates ISP adds content filtering for banner ads

Emirates Internet & Multimedia, the sole ISP in the UAE, has introduced banner ad blocking to its armoury of Internet content control weapons.

Emirates Internet & Multimedia, the sole ISP in the UAE, has introduced banner ad blocking to its armoury of Internet content control weapons.

Visitors to popular Web sites like Wired.com and Pogo.com will find banner ads promoting immoral sites replaced by the familiar “Blocked Site” window used by EIM.

The new service was not announced by EIM, nor is it explained on the company’s web site: www.emirates.net.ae.
