Sun Microsystems re-engineers support services

Programme will deliver enhancements like remote systems monitoring, on-site engineering support and system availability guarantees.

Sun Microsystems has revamped its support services in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The new programme will allow Sun to deliver more proactive support, including features such as remote systems monitoring, on-site engineering support and system availability guarantees.

Sun hopes that by standardising support and service it can help keep down total cost of ownership for users and make the best use of technically skilled people. Brian Perrins, regional manager for support services Sun MEA, commented: “In the Middle East, Sun Microsystems Support Services has made significant investment towards providing a global uptime solution to our partners and customers. We are now able to offer direct, pure Sun, support in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.”

“Sun is driving down the total cost of ownership to our end-users by leveraging from our global resources and optimising our personnel, logistics and technical resources to complement, not duplicate, those of the channel and end-user,” he said. “Building a support solution between the vendor, reseller, integrator and end-user brings the best productivity results and provides acceptable risk sharing.”
