Leading US Web sites prove magnet to UAE Web surfers

Only six Middle East sites make table of top 100 Web sites visited by Internet users in the Emirates.

Of the top 100 most visited sites by Web surfers in the UAE in July, only six are Middle East-focused.

The top 100 list, compiled by Alexa Research, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, reveals that local Internet users spend more time browsing global sites like MSN and Yahoo, than local sites.

The six local sites that made the grade were: Emirates.net.ae (Etisalat’s ISP site); Education.gov.ae; Maktoob.com; Arabia.com; UAEmall.net and ITParabia.com.

The top three international sites were MSN.com, Yahoo.com and ICQ.comYahoo.
