IBM and International Business Systems (IBS) have formed a strategic alliance to provide a comprehensive system of e-business solutions.

IBM and International Business Systems (IBS) have formed a strategic alliance to provide a comprehensive system of e-business solutions.

Under the alliance, IBM will allocate staff to support marketing and sales of the IBM/IBS solutions. At the same time IBS will use IBM’s AS/400 and Netfinity servers as its preferred platforms.

The two companies are also looking into cooperating over application service providing (ASP).

“This strategic alliance highlights our strong position in the fast-growing market for e-business solutions, particularly supply chain management solutions,” said Staffan Ahlberg, CEO of IBS.


“Companies need to have customer-focused software with fully integrated front office and back office logistics. IBS can offer all this, together with worldwide professional services and the full backing of IBM technology, software and services.”

Tarek Niazi, manager of software for IBM Middle East and Pakistan, was keen to stress the benefits of the alliance for customers.

“The real business value for the customer is that they can get a solution that will make them competitive in today’s market. It will provide them with new functionality and help them implement one standardized solution across many borders,” he said.

IBS’s ASW software solution covers a wide range of areas, including sales and marketing, CRM, supply chain management, inventory and warehousing, after sales service, demand driven manufacturing and financials capabilities.

Reduce Costs

“IBS helps us to really increase our customer service and to cut costs in our supply chain,” said Michael Keller, Nintendo Europe’s information systems manager.

“IBS’s local support on a global scale and the close partnership with IBM are very important for an international company like Nintendo.”
Nintendo Europe are one of more than 5,000 IBS customers, spread across 40 countries.
