DubaiCityGuide.com goes global

Content syndication deal with iSyndicate is a sign that regional dot.coms can make money from their content.

DubaiCityGuide.com has signed a content franchising agreement with iSyndicate.com, a reseller of online content to hundreds of North American Web sites.

DubaiCityGuide’s information on everything there is to do and see in Dubai will now be available to large global community sites like Geocities, the Globe and Xoom.

"The Middle East has appeared significantly on our radar screens and we have decided to focus on the information needs of millions of Internet subscribers in the region,” said Mark Gatty Saunt, international content business manager at iSyndicate.

“Our partnership with Cyber Gear, the producer of DubaiCityGuide.com is a good start to showcasing one of the commercial and leisure capitals of the Middle East to the rest of the world."

DubaiCityGuide.com joins AME Info as a provider of content to iSyndicate. Both deals reflect growing overseas interest in the Middle East and are an encouraging sign that regional dot.coms can make money from content.

Sharad Agarwal, managing director of Cyber-Gear, which owns DubaiCityGuide.com, believes there could be great potential to make money from WAP content for mobile phones.

“This is a very critical time in the wireless market because most of the wireless carriers, portals, and other providers are just beginning to launch their data services and they need content badly,” says Agarwal.

“ISyndicate is getting in on the ground floor and our relationship will establish DubaiCityGuide.com branding and create new revenue streams on the wireless platform.
